Actors of different skin tones deserve lighting that is most flattering for each person. We will customize our lights for every actor, and color correct as necessary to showcase the most flattering images for every scene!

I’m a graduate of NYU and have spent over 15 years working in the entertainment industry alongside thoughtful, driven artists just like you. I know the pressure well—insane turnaround times, high stakes, paralyzing self-doubt, and a constant stream of conflicting advice about what you should be doing.

Self Tape Productions was created in direct response to that pressure.

FAQs
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Brooklyn, New York on Ocean Avenue, along the west side of the Brooklyn College Campus. The closest train is the Q off the Avenue H stop. It’s a beautiful neighborhood, and is ranked among the safest in the entire borough. Free street parking available, as well as cheap metered spots nearby.

DO YOU PROVIDE A READER?
Absolutely. But if you want to bring a friend, coach, or another actor, all are welcome.

CAN I TAPE MORE THAN ONE AUDITION?
Yes. So far, the world record is 7 different projects in one session!

HOW FAST CAN I GET MY FOOTAGE?
Typically, you will receive your footage in a downloadable Dropbox link in about 15 minutes after the end of the session. This can vary, of course, depending on the audition. If scenes are extremely long, or if you require multiple takes to be edited and uploaded, it may take a bit longer. But don’t worry: we are always aware of due dates for the auditions and will make sure we get everything in on time!

CAN I FILM A MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITION?
Absolutely. If there is enough time, we'll even edit the music track into the final file so that the sound quality is closer to that of a professional recording.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU TAKE?
We accept pretty much all of it: Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, PayPal, Credit Card, tap-to-pay, or plain old fashioned cash.

HOW GOOD IS THE QUALITY OF A VIRTUAL SELF TAPE?
Overall, the quality is pretty excellent. It depends somewhat on what kind of camera you're using. For example a 4K Webcam is going to have better picture quality than a regular iPhone. However, the recordings will always upload to the best resolution possible for your device.
